Nokia, DOCOMO, Fujitsu, NEC, and NTT have established a collaboration to design and develop critical 6G technologies. In proof-of-concept (POC) experiments, next-generation mobile technologies will be focused on the sub-terahertz band and AI-enabled interfaces.   The partnership will concentrate on two proof-of-concepts for upcoming 6G technologies: an AI native air interface and sub-THz radio access. These seek to prove that an AI-based 6G air interface outperforms a traditional air interface in terms of performance, and that high-data-rate beamformed access can be obtained in a high frequency band at 140 GHz.   Nokia thinks that 6G will not only improve on existing technologies and systems, but will also expand and revolutionize the capabilities of a network. BT and Ericsson have launched a new cooperative venture in which the two companies will collaborate to deliver private 5G networks to Industry 4.0 clients. The details of the multimillion-pound arrangement have not been released, although it is reported that the partnership duration is to be for several years.   Under the terms of the agreement, BT will use Ericsson technology to provide private 5G networks to partners in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, and transportation and logistics, with a focus on enabling valuable solutions such as asset tracking, predictive maintenance and automation.   Asset tracking, predictive maintenance, networked sensors, real-time data processing, automation and robots are among the industry 4.0 solutions promised. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has named Kaspersky Lab, a Moscow-based cybersecurity business and developer of popular antivirus software, as one of the organizations posing an unacceptable danger to US national security.   Kaspersky is the first Russian company to be added to the list, which is currently dominated by Chinese telecoms companies. The FCC has now released its most recent list of untrustworthy vendors, which includes, for the first time, a non-Chinese company: Kaspersky. Kaspersky joins Huawei Technologies, ZTE Corporation, Hytera, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Company, Dahua Technology Company, China Telecom (Americas) and China Mobile International USA on the list.   Once a company has been included on the list, it is illegal for that organization to use federal subsidies, which are distributed through the FCC’s $8 billion yearly Universal Service Fund, or to buy any of its products or services.
