Samsung to broadcast MWC19 Barcelona live over 5G network

Samsung Electronics has announced that it will provide live streaming of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 on the expo’s official media channel ‘Mobile World Live TV’ using its 5G network, thus demonstrating real-world use of its 5G technology. MWC, the world’s largest mobile show, starts next week in Barcelona, and Samsung is going to display a number of devices and new technologies at the event. According to the company, its 5G solutions comprise a radio access unit (5G Radio) and a 5G router (CPE), and will broadcast the content shot by the High Definition Television Video (HDTV) camera at the booth of Mobile World Live TV, located in Broadcast Village, Gran Via. 40 Gbps wireless backhaul speeds with Ericsson and Deutsche Telekom

The networking and telecommunications company Ericsson and Germany’s largest network provider Deutsche Telekom, have announced that together they are the first to successfully demonstrate a wireless transmission on the mmWave spectrum, that can transfer data four times faster than currently existing services.  The achievement of the data transmission rate of 40 Gbps with a latency of under 100 microseconds is a considerable advancement towards the fulfilment of stringent latency requirements of 5G, and the anticipated 100 Gbps backhaul networking. She pointed out the fact that more towers and fiberisation is needed to follow the growth of subscribers.
