WhatsApp is scheduled to launch a new function called Silence Unknown Callers, which will allow users to filter out spam calls. The function, which can be turned on or off in the settings menu, automatically mutes phone calls from numbers not in the user’s contact list.   Despite the fact that the call will be quiet, the Caller ID will remain visible in both the calls list and the notifications center. This will enable users to determine who was attempting to contact them.   This new addition is intended to fix a problem with WhatsApp’s Communities feature. This feature allows any group member to simply access the phone numbers of other users and begin spamming them. NTT DoCoMo partners with Ericsson and Keysight on 6G NTT DoCoMo has announced the expansion of its experimental 6G trials, for which it has teamed with Ericsson and Keysight. The collaboration with Ericsson will concentrate on new 6G wireless interfaces for frequencies ranging from 6 to 15 GHz, as well as the sub-TeraHertz band, which encompasses frequencies exceeding 100 GHz. The collaboration with Keysight will put ultra-wideband communications across sub-THz frequencies to the test. The GSMA, a global association of mobile network operators, has unveiled a new project dubbed the GSMA Open Gateway with the goal of offering developers universal access to operator networks. This objective will be accomplished through the creation of a framework of universal network Application Programmable Interfaces (APIs) that will unite the industry behind open APIs. The change signifies a fundamental shift in how the telecoms sector creates and provides services in a world where there is an API economy.   At the MWC Barcelona 2023, 21 mobile network carriers will already be demonstrating the potential of the initiative. T-Mobile’s data breach affected 37 million customers A major data breach impacting 37 million T-Mobile users has been revealed. The hack, which was discovered on January 5th, is thought to have started on November 25th, 2022. An application programming interface (API) was taken advantage of by a hacker to attain unauthorized access to client data. The breach allowed access to names, billing addresses, emails, phone numbers, dates of birth and T-Mobile account numbers, but did not reveal payment card information, social security, tax, driver’s license, or other government-issued ID numbers. Mitel, a global business communications provider, has announced that it has entered into exclusive negotiations with Atos to acquire Unify, the Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC) and Communication and Collaboration Services (CCS) businesses of the Atos group. The proposed purchase would boost Mitel’s organizational scope,  worldwide revenues and  profitability. With a combined client base of more than 75 million users in more than 100 countries and a channel network of more than 5,500 worldwide partners, Mitel and Unify would become a well-established UC leader in the Americas and Europe.
