Messaging apps urge UK government to rethink online safety bill The heads of messaging apps including WhatsApp and Signal have written an open letter urging the UK government to reconsider its proposed internet law. The Online Safety Bill, which is presently being debated in the House of Lords, would provide the government with broad powers of censorship over all digital speech and information. Verizon Business has announced that it will provide a variety of network connectivity options to Siemens, a German global technology business, in order to maintain the security of its employees’ devices and data. The solutions will provide Siemens employees in smaller office locations with a smooth “plug and play” user experience while emphasizing security and zero trust principles. Siemens’ zero-trust initiative demands that all employee devices be verified, approved and continually checked before access to mission-critical applications and data is granted or retained. Verizon Business will implement an “internet only” connection, such as a global Managed Wide Area Network based on Cisco Meraki technology, which is vital to the success of the Siemens’ “never trust, always verify” program. According to Sanjiv Gossain, EMEA Vice President, Verizon Business, an intelligent network may make underlying architectures more agile by controlling traffic and improving operational efficiency. He noted that while every…
The premium brand of IP telephony is delighted by the excellent results it has achieved at the end of its fiscal year and thanks its sales partners for their tremendous loyalty and support. IP telephony pioneer Snom, has maintained record sales figures and strengthened its market share in the fiscal year 2023. Crucial to Snom’s success has been the cooperation of its sales partners, who have made an active contribution to the brand’s success, despite the global political climate and recessionary trends of the last twelve months. As Snom’s CEO Gernot Sagl shares, the past year has been a challenging one for companies active in the B2B space. As soon as the market restraint triggered by the pandemic subsided, companies then had to deal with soaring operational, energy and fuel costs. All of this in combination created a series of knock-on effects and additional hurdles. For example, some…
Verizon has been awarded a $2.4 billion contract to update the US Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA’s) telecommunications and information management systems. If all options are exercised, this agreement, which represents fresh business for the corporation, will last 15 years. The deal was awarded under the FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS) procurement program, which replaces the old FAA Telecommunications Infrastructure (FTI) contract system. Harris Corp., who was previously in possession of the FTI award, lost the contract. In addition to network access for administrative information systems such as email, payroll and online training, Verizon will offer telecommunications, information management services, network connectivity and other capabilities. Also, Verizon will offer services for program management, network engineering, test and evaluation, and network security management. The contract infrastructure will serve as the cornerstone of the Next Generation Air Transportation System. Verizon Business CEO Kyle Malady said: “From dynamic services and bandwidth…

When it comes to the security of your business, you can’t afford to take any chances. But what are the best ways for you to protect your data and make sure your employees are safe? One way is by using a Virtual Private Network (VPN). With more and more employees working from home, many IT professionals may decide to route Voice-over-IP (VoIP) traffic together with the user’s other data through a VPN. Using a VPN for VoIP calling provides additional levels of security and privacy, assisting both in-house and remote workers in remaining secure. What is a VoIP VPN? Simply explained, a VoIP VPN will build a secure tunnel through which all of your VoIP communications will traverse. As a consequence, you’ll be able to circumvent firewall limitations and make calls in a secure manner. Additionally, this type of service will conceal your actual IP address and allocate a…
GPT-4 is the latest artificial intelligence (AI) model produced by OpenAI, a San Francisco-based research lab. The AI model, which is intended to improve deep learning, is available to paying OpenAI users via ChatGPT Plus with a usage cap. Developers may join a waitlist to gain access to the API. GPT-4 is capable of handling more sophisticated tasks than its predecessor, GPT-3.5. This AI software version can generate text, process image and text inputs, and perform at a “human level” when related to a variety of professional and academic benchmarks. OpenAI spent six months “iteratively aligning” GPT-4 using lessons learned from an internal adversarial testing program and ChatGPT. The model’s skills extend beyond visual understanding; it can label and analyze relatively complicated images, as well as handle nuanced instructions. A number of high-profile clients are presently using GPT-4. Stripe uses GPT-4 to scan company websites and provide a…
