Enterprise networking and security leader Cisco, has unveiled a new, expanded Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) offering. This is a step for Cisco towards radically simplifying security and networking by helping network operations (NetOps) and security operations (SecOps) teams securely connect users to applications.   Cisco delivers the capacity to purchase all of the key components of a SASE product in a one-stop offering, making it easy to transition to a single subscription service in the future. Cisco provides all key elements of the SASE architecture, including best-in-class networking, remote access, cloud security, zero trust network access, and observability. IBM and Telefónica Argentina (Movistar) have announced a live, fully operational Open RAN network that will act as a proof of concept (PoC) for the delivery of commercial mobile services to the city of Puerto Madryn, Argentina, covering 81,000 urban residents. Snom, an international manufacturer of IP phones for businesses and professionals, has updated the functionality of its A190 headsets to make day-to-day calling more efficient for users. The company launched its wireless A190 headset in 2019. For businesses with a DECT multicell installation, the headset offers the ability to roam up to 50 metres indoors and 300 metres outdoors without losing signal. It provides excellent broadband sound, including noise and echo cancellation, and a talk time of up to seven hours thanks to an integrated lithium-ion battery. When the battery runs out, the A190 is equipped with a voice output that informs the user in advance. Until now, transferring or muting via the headset was not possible and could only be done using buttons on a paired Snom DECT phone. Singtel, a Singaporean telecommunications conglomerate, and its Australian subsidiary Optus have expanded their 5G ecosystems by adding Amazon Web Services (AWS) Outposts to their portfolio of hybrid cloud technologies from hyperscale cloud providers in their respective multi-access edge compute (MEC) platforms.    With Amazon Web Services Outpost, MEC will power 5G solutions such as robotics, drones, autonomous vehicles and artificial intelligence to function with very little latency, and closer to end-users. The Swedish multinational networking and telecommunications company Ericsson has introduced three new radios in its enterprise-level Massive MIMO portfolio, and bolstered their RAN Compute portfolio with six RAN Compute products to accelerate the 5G mid-band release and expand next-generation mobile technology.   Ericsson stated that the three new radios and six new RAN Compute products will enable operators to make better use of the full spectrum of mid-band, that is around 3.5 GHz. The independent German telecommunications company 1&1 Drillisch has announced that it has accepted Telefonica Deutschland’s improved national roaming offer. Drillisch said that if a roaming agreement were to be reached with Telefonica, it would retrospectively add $41 million to its 2020 earnings, which it would book in its 2021 fiscal year.   Telefonica Deutschland and 1&1 Drillisch have agreed on the details of a new national roaming agreement after lengthy pricing disputes. Both sides claimed a positive result after the European Commission (EC) helped reach a compromise.   The companies are expanding their long-term partnership by transforming the current MBA MVNO contract into a National Roaming Agreement (NRA) under the 2014 Telefónica Deutschland and E-Plus merger remedy framework.
