OneWeb launches 34 more broadband satellites OneWeb has reported the successful launch of 34 additional low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, increasing the total deployment to 288. The company plans to grow its fleet to 648 satellites by the end of next year in order to provide worldwide coverage. The rollout comes after the conclusion of OneWeb’s Five to 50 mission, and it bodes well for the promise of a commercial service later this year, followed by a worldwide service in 2022. Nokia will provide over 300 scholarships in collaboration with the online learning and talent transformation platform Udacity and Blacks In Technology (BIT) Foundation, with an emphasis on enabling students and career changers from underrepresented groups.   According to the BIT Foundation, people of color are significantly underrepresented in the tech industry, accounting for only 3% of employees in the top 75 Silicon Valley tech businesses compared to 24% of the entire US workforce.
