The EU Secure Connectivity Program has welcomed Rivada Space Networks, a wireless technology company focused on open access wholesale and the fusion of terrestrial and satellite communications.   The EU space-based, secure communication system proposes to use the most recent quantum communication technology for secure encryption in order to accommodate growing and changing governmental and business demands. The program aims to enable access to advanced, dependable and high-speed connectivity for citizens and businesses across Europe, including coverage of communication dead zones. This initiative is aimed at ensuring cohesion among Member States, and providing the long-term availability of worldwide uninterrupted secure and cost-effective satellite communication services.   In its submission to the EU Secure Connectivity Program’s preliminary market consultation, Rivada Space Networks outlined the main characteristics of its laser-linked LEO constellation architecture. The business also suggests that the member nations and project stakeholders should use its Open Access Wireless Marketplace platform…

Nokia announced on Monday that Deutsche Telekom (DT) has chosen the Finnish multinational telecommunication provider to convert DT’s optical network into a service-oriented platform. The transformation will allow Deutsche Telekom to provide its customers with an improved service quality experience, by upgrading the existing network to an expansive and automated one. The use of automation will help the operator to simplify and organize operational tasks to make more efficient use of network resources.   Deutsche Telekom will adapt Nokia’s optical transport portfolio to become a higher-capacity, self-regulating network that meets residential and Industry 4.0 requirements. This gives Nokia the opportunity to promote its ‘Wave’ Brand optical transport portfolio: the Nokia WaveFabric service-ready platforms and the Nokia WaveSuite software portfolio, that includes the Nokia 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) provided by the PSE- V family of coherent DSPs (digital signal processors).    This solution will revolutionize Deutsche Telekom’s optical backbone network…

ZTE Corporation and Intel have jointly launched the Light Cloud platform for access networks at the 5G Summit being held at Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona. The Light Cloud solution is based on Intel’s innovative Edge products, impeccably integrated into ZTE’s flagship optical fiber access platform, Titan, thus merging Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) and Network function virtualization (NFVI). The solution employs lightweight blade servers equipped with Intel Xeon D processors. When embedded in an OLT or BRAS device, the blade servers transform it into lightweight cloud infrastructure, thus reducing high capital costs and making a positive environmental impact. The infrastructure opens up computing and storage possibilities based on telecom access equipment, and allows the deployment and distribution of application-sensitive services. The access layer with cloud features is supported by built-in blade servers, and facilitates the ability to offer a wide range of cloud applications and services, including…

Nokia and ZCorum have developed an innovative DOCSIS Provisioning Adapter (DPA) to aid cable operators in transitioning to fiber networks. This application leverages existing DOCSIS systems while provisioning Optical Network Terminals on Passive Optical Networks. The DPA streamlines the fiber transition, enhancing scalability, performance, and reliability for cable operators.

The future of the intelligent world is orbiting around the power of 10Gbps bandwidth, forming the vital backbone of digital advancement. As the tech world continues to evolve, the network upgrades, too, strive to match pace, evident in the successful transition from gigabit to more powerful 10Gbps optical networks, or F5.5G. Huawei stands at the helm of this transition, providing comprehensive solutions for operators. With new-age high-speed, low latency connections, and a focus on enhanced user experiences, the stage is being set for the world’s leap into the F5.5G era.

In a groundbreaking development, Rakuten Mobile, in partnership with Nokia, has successfully conducted a trial demonstrating the capability of transmitting data at a rate of 1 terabit per second (Tbps) over a single wavelength. This trial spanned an impressive distance of 820 kilometers across both subsea and terrestrial networks in Japan, setting a new benchmark in the Asia Pacific region for this level of data transmission.

Nokia, in collaboration with the HellasQCI consortium, has achieved a significant milestone in the realm of quantum-safe connectivity infrastructure. The joint initiative aimed to assess the viability of quantum-safe solutions across diverse sectors, including government, research, education, defense, law enforcement, and private sector critical infrastructure owners.

In a major technological breakthrough, Nokia and Orange have announced the successful completion of an unprecedented 800Gbps per wavelength transmission over Orange’s acclaimed 6,600km Dunant transatlantic route. This milestone was achieved using Nokia’s PSE-6s super coherent optics integrated into the Nokia 1830 Photonic Services Interconnect – Modular (PSI-M). The groundbreaking trial, conducted under real-world network conditions, underscores Orange’s capability to enhance its existing optical network capacity, facilitating the support of end-to-end 400GE and cutting-edge 800GE services.

Illinois-based communications services provider HTC has joined forces with Ribbon Communications Inc., a global leader in real-time communications technology and IP optical networking solutions. The collaboration aims to modernize and fortify HTC’s network infrastructure through the implementation of Ribbon’s cutting-edge IP Wave solutions.
