Ribbon joins Microsoft’s Operator Connect Accelerator for Teams

Ribbon Communications Inc., a global provider of real-time communications software and IP Optical networking solutions, has joined Microsoft’s new Operator Connect Accelerator for Microsoft Teams as an ecosystem partner. The Operator Connect Accelerator program affords service providers with the opportunity to work with an authorized Microsoft ecosystem partner in order to provide integration tools, service offerings and professional services to jump-start their Operator Connect deployments, allowing these companies to reach a larger number of Teams customers. Ribbon Connect for Operator Connect, a multi-tenant software as a service (SaaS) solution, will now enable service provider implementations of Operator Connect, which is a Microsoft-managed solution for connecting Teams and telecom providers. Microsoft’s Teams app under investigation after Slack’s complaint

The ongoing rivalry between Microsoft and Slack has intensified after the latest complaint filed by Slack Technologies against Microsoft regarding the integration of the Teams app with their ubiquitous Office suite. According to Slack, such bundled products allow companies to gain an unfair advantage over other collaboration tool providers. Following the complaint, the EU antitrust commission has issued a questionnaire for Microsoft competitors (seen by Reuters) asking if the Teams app integration with the Microsoft Office product gives the software giant greater clout. The rival companies have been asked to provide information about their customers who have switched to Teams or the bundled Microsoft Office, along with the percentage of revenue that has been lost as a result. SES Networks teams up with Microsoft Azure to extend its global reach

SES Networks, a provider of global connectivity and managed data services through the only multi-orbit satellite-enabled network and wide-ranging infrastructure on the ground, has announced that it will deliver dedicated, private network connectivity from any vessel, airplane, enterprise, energy or government site in the world to Microsoft Azure using its satellite systems. According to the announcement, SES is able to provide connectivity services across its global fleet of 50 Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) and 20 Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellites.
