China Mobile and Ericsson to launch an energy-efficient 5G site

China Mobile and Ericsson have announced the launch of two energy-efficient 5G sites in China as part of their efforts to conserve energy and reduce carbon emissions. The Ericsson Smart Site offers new levels of quality assurance, the intelligent administration of various energy sources, full-stack real-time monitoring, and intelligent energy and service synergy. The initial facility, located in Jiangsu Province, runs on the 700MHz frequency and emits no carbon dioxide. The second facility, in Guangdong, operates on the 2.6GHz frequency. Both locations employ Ericsson’s power system, which optimizes the usage of energy from solar, grid and battery sources to provide the most energy-efficient operation possible. Viasat awarded $325 Million SOCOM contract extension

Viasat, a leading global communications company, has announced that it has been awarded a contract extension worth up to $325 million over a five-year period by the US Special Operations Command (SOCOM). This indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract is an extension of a previous IDIQ contract worth $350 million that was awarded to Viasat in 2017. Under the terms of the contract, Viasat will continue to provide advanced mission equipment and services, and support to SOCOM forces in order to improve their situational awareness, integration, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), tactical satellite communications, information assurance and network management capabilities. Ericsson has announced the sale of its unprofitable Internet of Things (IoT) division to Aeris Communications, an IoT solutions supplier. The Swedish telecom equipment provider claimed that the transaction, which covers its IoT Accelerator and Connected Vehicle Cloud operations, will end the businesses’ past quarter-to-quarter losses of almost $24 million. Over 9,000 businesses use Ericsson’s IoT Accelerator to handle 22 million eSIM connections and over 95 million connected devices worldwide. For worldwide IoT cellular connectivity, these businesses and relationships make use of Ericsson’s current network of over 35 communications service provider partners. Orange expands its cyberdefense branch with two acquisitions

The Orange subsidiary, Orange Cyberdefense, has purchased all of the shares of SCRT and Telsys, two Swiss businesses. These two sister companies, which have operations in Geneva and Bern, together with a joint headquarters in Morges, near Lausanne, employ over 100 professionals with expertise in cybersecurity and related services. The growth of Orange Cyberdefense is a strategic goal for the Orange Group as it seeks to position itself as a top European cybersecurity business. The purchases, according to Orange, would strengthen the group’s cyberdefense business, which intends to generate 1 billion euros in revenue next year.
