Rogers Communications Inc. has announced plans to offer full 5G connections to Toronto’s subway system, including 911 access for all users. The telecom corporation has agreed to buy BAI Canada. BAI has had exclusive rights to establish the Toronto Transit Commission wireless network since 2012. Rogers will now be able to make the investments needed to develop a comprehensive and reliable 5G network for the entire TTC subway system as a result of this transaction. 5G network construction is projected to take about two years. US carriers to address airline safety concerns over C-band spectrum In an open letter, AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile US and UScellular agreed to take voluntary steps to allay worries about aviation safety and allow these telecom companies to fully utilize their C-band spectrum. According to the letter, the steps are intended to minimize operational impact on C-Band operations and support full-power deployments across the C-Band spectrum. Verizon has been awarded a $2.4 billion contract to update the US Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA’s) telecommunications and information management systems. Attentive’s State of Conversational Commerce Report indicates that consumers are increasingly comfortable interacting with brands, as long as they perceive value. The report surveyed over 8,000 consumers from the US, Canada, the UK and Australia and found that 91% of those questioned have opted into the SMS program of at least one brand, or are interested in doing so. Conversational commerce refers to interactive, people-driven experiences that support the entire customer buying experience, from awareness to post-purchase. The report showed that conversational commerce has been widely adopted in the shopping journey.
