Norfolk County Council (NCC) has completed a major network transformation project in partnership with Abzorb, a leader in public sector and business networking solutions. The £1.2 million initiative spans 221 sites and aims to enhance performance and security while reducing costs.
Abzorb engineered a unified software-defined wide-area networking (SD-WAN) solution tailored to NCC’s needs. This innovative approach allows the council to optimize connectivity at each site by selecting the most cost-effective provider. The result is improved network performance and heightened security delivered through a single, integrated platform.
Following the deployment, 90% of end users reported a noticeable improvement in network performance. The project has streamlined operations for NCC’s internal IT team, eliminating the need to manage multiple solutions and providers.
Kurt Fray, Head of IT at Norfolk County Council, praised Abzorb’s approach, highlighting the solution’s flexibility and cost efficiencies. Fray emphasized that the project not only enhances security and reduces complexity but also enables the council to explore emerging technologies and digital service enhancements.
Abzorb’s SD-WAN solution integrates seamlessly with NCC’s existing infrastructure, optimizing connectivity options and simplifying network management through automation. The system also bolsters security, offering protection against Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks.
Dean Al-Sened, Head of Public Sector and Enterprise at Abzorb, underscored the collaborative effort between the two entities, emphasizing the importance of understanding NCC’s unique challenges and goals. Al-Sened highlighted the project’s ability to leverage existing technology investments while embracing cloud, automation, and cybersecurity solutions.
