Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat or IOH) and Google Cloud have announced an expansion of their strategic alliance, focusing on transforming Indosat into an AI-driven technology company. This partnership aims to leverage Indosat’s extensive network and data with Google Cloud’s advanced AI tools to enhance services for over 100 million customers and offer AI solutions for businesses across Indonesia.
The collaboration will enable Indosat to utilize AI and generative AI (GenAI) for various innovative solutions. These include modernizing customer service with Google Cloud’s Contact Center AI, which will provide call center staff with live call transcription, recommended responses, real-time conversation analysis, and sentiment analysis. Additionally, GenAI-powered conversational agents will offer self-service options across digital platforms, improving efficiency and customer satisfaction.
AI will also play a significant role in content generation and hyper-personalization. Creative AI agents, capable of handling multiple modes and languages, will tailor content based on individual customer profiles. This integration with customer relationship and content management systems will help marketers generate engaging content and personalized offers, enhancing customer interaction.
Moreover, geospatial analytics and predictive modeling will allow businesses to make data-driven decisions. Google Cloud’s machine learning models will assist in strategic site selection, asset management, and disaster mitigation, as well as help Indosat identify areas for network expansion to bridge the digital divide in Indonesia.
In network and IT operations, AI will optimize systems to predict returns on investment, reduce energy consumption, and improve service reliability. AI will adjust cell tower power levels during off-peak hours and assist technicians in diagnosing and resolving issues efficiently. GenAI-powered tools will also accelerate software development and delivery, leading to more reliable services.
Indosat and Google Cloud will explore joint initiatives to support Indonesia’s digital ecosystem, providing AI solutions to MSMEs, startups, enterprises, and public sector organizations. These efforts align with Indosat’s mission to empower Indonesia’s digital economy through innovative technologies.
Vikram Sinha, Indosat’s CEO, emphasized the collaboration’s role in driving innovation and opportunities, while Karan Bajwa, VP of Google Cloud Asia Pacific, highlighted Indosat’s forward-thinking approach and the transformative potential of AI in telecommunications and beyond.
