Residents and business owners in Colne, Lancashire, can look forward to significantly improved broadband services. UK full fibre broadband provider, brsk, is investing in a new network, promising to deliver symmetrical speeds of up to 2Gbps. The infrastructure project will enhance connectivity for approximately 11,000 homes and businesses, aligning with brsk’s goal to upgrade digital infrastructure in underserved communities.

Currently, these areas often rely on outdated copper connections, which struggle to deliver the performance required in today’s digital landscape. The modern full fibre technology will not only provide faster speeds but also greater reliability and service quality. Existing customers of brsk can now access more robust service upgrades, following positive feedback from trials involving the new 2Gbps product.

Darryl Nieuwenhuizen, Regional Head for Lancashire, enthusiastically stated, “We are thrilled to be bringing cutting-edge technology to Colne. Access to fast and reliable broadband is crucial in today’s digital age, and we are committed to ensuring that smaller towns in the county like Colne get the connectivity they deserve.”

This expansion is part of a broader regional effort. The company has already upgraded 126,000 premises across Lancashire, including areas like Burnley, Blackburn with Darwen, Bacup, and Rossendale.

The focus on bridging the digital divide highlights important discussions about the pace of broadband deployment in the UK, particularly in the North. As infrastructure improvements continue, industry stakeholders might ponder if development is progressing fast enough to meet growing demands.
