BT has introduced a new managed Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) service to enhance its secure networking offerings for UK businesses. This updated service incorporates advanced technology from Fortinet, a renowned cybersecurity company based in California. With this enhancement, BT aims to improve cloud data and application protection, thus simplifying network security management.
The new managed service enriches BT’s existing Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) offerings. It introduces AI-powered Security Service Edge (SSE) capabilities, such as firewall-as-a-service, secure web gateways, and zero-trust network access. These tools ensure that only authenticated users and devices can access sensitive company resources. The service particularly addresses the needs of businesses transitioning to cloud-based operations, who also accommodate remote workstations.
This strategic move comes amid increasing cyber threats and the need for robust network security. The advancements aim to secure seamless access to cloud services for businesses, safeguarding their data and applications. As remote work gains prevalence, the necessity for reliable and secure network solutions grows exponentially.
Nirav Shah, Vice President of Products and Solutions at Fortinet, emphasized, “Building upon our decade-long partnership, we’re proud to collaborate on the new SASE service with BT to enable its UK customers to converge networking and security.”
Shah further elaborates on the benefits of combining BT’s choice of fixed and 5G networks with Fortinet’s innovative SASE solutions. This combination seeks to provide customers with more nimble, robust, and secure network capabilities, enhancing their cloud experiences.
