Finnish telecom giant Nokia has extended its collaboration with Orange France under a new four-year contract. This strategic partnership aims to bolster 5G radio infrastructure in France, utilizing Nokia’s energy-efficient AirScale portfolio. The updated agreement promises faster speeds, greater network capacity, and improved overall performance in Orange’s Southeastern and Western coverage areas.

Significantly, the contract highlights the deployment of O-RAN-compliant 5G AirScale equipment, such as high-capacity baseband solutions and Massive MIMO Habrok radios. Powered by Nokia’s ReefShark System-on-Chip technology, these components offer enhanced energy efficiency while maintaining strong coverage and performance. The deal also includes the introduction of the AI-based MantaRay NM network management solution to support all radio and mobile core technologies.

In addition, Orange France will explore Nokia’s 5G Cloud RAN solutions to transition toward Cloud RAN technology. This could potentially revolutionize network efficiencies and capabilities for Orange.

Emmanuel Lugagne Delpon, CTO of Orange France, stated, “This new contract extension with Nokia and their industry-leading equipment portfolio will support our pioneering efforts to drive superior customer experience, reduce our environmental footprint, and make our network as energy efficient as possible.”

Tommi Uitto, president of mobile networks at Nokia, expressed excitement about the continued partnership. He emphasized that the energy-efficient AirScale portfolio and MantaRay management solution would contribute positively to Orange’s network performance and sustainability goals.
