Colt Technology Services has unveiled an innovative service known as Managed LEO+. This groundbreaking solution merges Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity with cellular 4G and 5G technology. The enhanced service is now accessible to Colt’s clients in 65 countries. It caters particularly to businesses operating in remote or hard-to-reach areas, offering an alternatives to ensure resilient digital infrastructures.
The service complements Colt’s fiber connectivity, providing an effective backup solution. Businesses with rural operations might often face inadequate network service. Managed LEO+ provides a robust alternative and facilitates rapid deployment for those in need. The service is the result of successful trials with a global biopharmaceutical firm that operates in 30 countries, many with challenging locations underserved by traditional networks. The trial highlighted Managed LEO+’s ability to deliver secure, sustainable infrastructure, integrating operations and supporting vital tools and applications across sites.
One of the main advantages is the service’s high performance and reliability. Managed LEO+ integrates with Colt’s existing infrastructure, seamlessly bridging urban and rural areas. This provides efficient remote access and enhances collaboration while ensuring rigorous regulatory compliance.
Annette Murphy, chief commercial officer at Colt, emphasized the need for this solution. She noted that businesses in isolated areas have long suffered from poor access to networks, slowing down progress and hindering innovations. “Our new Managed LEO+ service complements our existing fibre network and provides an exciting new option for high-performing, secure network access – and it’s fully managed by Colt, so businesses benefit from our mission to remove complexity and make life easier for them,” stated Murphy.
Colt’s expansive network spans four continents, covering 40 countries with ten subsea systems. Their infrastructure framework is wide-ranging, incorporating land, sea, and now, low Earth orbit for a comprehensive approach. Managed LEO+ maximizes this infrastructure, offering broad coverage and secure, low-latency networks. This makes it an appealing choice for global businesses aiming to stay competitive.
