OpenAI is ambitiously expanding its Stargate project beyond U.S. borders. The initiative, initially unveiled this year by President Donald Trump, aims to establish a worldwide network of advanced AI infrastructure.

The company’s latest effort, “OpenAI for Countries,” offers partnerships to governments interested in building localized AI infrastructure similar to the U.S. Stargate model. This initiative promises country-specific data centers and customized ChatGPT services to be tailored to local languages and cultures. As demand for advanced AI capabilities grows, these partnerships will help nations support data sovereignty while fostering new local industries.

Currently, the Stargate project is executing its first phase in Texas, costing $100 billion, with plans to engage 10 international projects with various governments. The initiative could become the largest AI infrastructure endeavor ever, combining extensive computing capacity and storage to meet the rapidly increasing demand across sectors like research, automation, and healthcare.

Partners such as SoftBank and Oracle are crucial to the project’s success. While OpenAI focuses on AI development, SoftBank provides funding and strategic inputs, and Oracle applies its cloud computing strengths. Together, they lead this initiative, while additional partners from energy, construction, and chipmaking industries are expected to join.
