In the dynamic realm of data infrastructure, NTT is making significant strides to expand its global data center presence. The company recently revealed plans to acquire land across seven strategic markets in North America, Europe, and Asia, supporting approximately one gigawatt of future capacity. These land acquisitions are a part of NTT’s ambitious $10 billion global investment strategy aimed at satiating the burgeoning demand for AI-ready and high-performance cloud infrastructure.

The broadened footprint introduces NTT to new territories including Milan, Italy, with a planned 128MW facility on a 53-acre site, and Tochigi, Japan, where two data centers with a total of 100MW capacity will emerge. This strategic advancement coincides with the increasing usage of AI and cloud technologies globally.

Continuing its growth momentum, NTT also extends its existing data centers. In Hillsboro, Oregon, new land acquisitions will boost planned capacity to 354MW. Similarly, a new 174-acre campus in Phoenix, Arizona, will support over 300MW, increasing the local capacity to nearly 600MW. Meanwhile, the London area is set to welcome its eighth facility under the NTT umbrella.

The presence in Frankfurt will expand with a new site supplementing 80MW capacity, while in Osaka, two new facilities will be established, amounting to 70MW in total. This sweeping expansion is indicative of a wider industry trend as hyperscale providers rush to align with the growing infrastructure needs for AI and cloud services.

Doug Adams, CEO and President of Global Data Centers at NTT DATA, affirms that the company’s investments in high-growth regions lay down the groundwork for enterprises to innovate and scale. “By bringing new capacity to high-growth regions, we’re building the foundation enterprises need to innovate, scale, and lead confidently in an AI-driven economy,” declares Adams.
