Swedish corporations Ericsson, AstraZeneca, Saab, SEB, and Wallenberg Investments AB have joined forces to create a national AI facility aimed at providing secure and sovereign access to high-performance computing. The initiative will be anchored by two Nvidia DGX SuperPODs equipped with Grace Blackwell GB300 systems, which are projected to make it Sweden’s largest AI supercomputer when operational.

The facility will support advanced AI tasks, from training industry-specific models to large-scale inference, including reasoning-based AI. Nvidia will also open its first AI Technology Centre in Sweden to further local research efforts.

Ericsson plans to use the infrastructure to deploy cutting-edge AI models, which it believes will fuel innovation and unlock new commercial opportunities. AstraZeneca intends to harness the computing power for drug discovery and development, utilizing foundation model training and multi-modal inference. Saab will apply AI to enhance defense systems, while SEB aims to increase productivity and develop future-oriented customer services.

Ericsson’s CTO, Erik Ekudden, emphasized AI’s critical role in transforming network technology and its importance to Sweden’s competitiveness. He underlined the synergy between AI and 5G in driving innovation and supporting startups.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang likened AI to past transformative technologies like electricity and the internet, asserting that Sweden’s new AI infrastructure positions it for future breakthroughs in science, industry, and society.
