Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison is partnering with Cisco and Nvidia to create a new AI Center of Excellence in Indonesia. This initiative aims to bolster local AI innovation through infrastructure development and talent cultivation. The move marks an important step in Indonesia’s digital evolution, focusing on leveraging Nvidia’s technology and Cisco’s security solutions.

The AI center, supported by the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs, hopes to revolutionize Indonesia’s digital landscape. The project’s ambitious aim is to train a million Indonesians in AI by 2027 and make AI tools widely available. During the Indonesia AI Day, Indosat’s CEO Vikram Sinha highlighted the collaboration as a means to accelerate Indonesia’s economic growth, ensuring that citizens are both creators and users of AI.

Key components of the center include deploying Nvidia’s AI technology in synergy with Cisco’s security systems. Focusing on sovereign infrastructure and security, they plan extensive infrastructure building and safe AI workload management. Additionally, a focus on talent development seeks to empower Indonesians with networking and cybersecurity skills.

A crucial aspect of this initiative is the inclusion of Nvidia’s AI technology program. This encompasses research and startup support, aimed at fostering a sustainable AI ecosystem. Already, twenty-eight startups are leveraging Indosat’s Nvidia infrastructure to provide solutions across numerous fields, including healthcare and education.

Indonesian innovations include AI-driven Bahasa-language models, which are instrumental in healthcare and public services. Projects like a health AI assistant have helped women schedule mammograms efficiently. These developments promise an integration of AI into routine aspects of life, potentially enhancing service delivery across sectors like mobility and food security.

Future plans include rolling out AI-RAN technologies, which marry AI and wireless networks. This integration is expected to fortify Indonesia’s connectivity and pave the way for future advancements. Last year Indosat launched an AI experience center in Central Java, showcasing their commitment to AI excellence.
