This follows the initial rollout in Calgary, bringing faster and more reliable home internet to more Canadians. As part of its strategic plan, Rogers integrates this advancement with its existing 5G and hybrid fiber coax networks. In this latest iteration, customers benefit from stronger home networks, capable of addressing significant data demands.
For Quebec, households using Rogers’ 5G Home Internet now have access to a Wi-Fi 7-capable device. This innovative solution continues Rogers’ commitment to enhancing internet speed, stability, and capacity. According to Bret Leech, president of Rogers’ residential segment, “Canadians deserve the best connectivity experience, and the launch of a Wi-Fi 7 capable device in Quebec delivers on our plans to bring the latest technology to more Canadians.”
Indeed, Wi-Fi 7 promises considerable advantages. It not only offers improved speeds and reliability but also better capacity to accommodate homes with multiple connected devices. Increased data usage, which has surged by 200% over the last five years, highlights the demand for such technological upgrades. On average, Canadian households have over 20 connected devices, bringing further strain to older networks.
In Calgary, the rollout introduced the advanced Rogers Xfinity Pro 4G router. This router can maintain speeds of up to 4 Gbps for downloads and 1 Gbps for uploads, servicing more than 200 devices simultaneously. Such performance cements it as the fastest option on any hybrid fiber coax network worldwide, a significant milestone for Rogers.
Leech emphasized, “This is the first in a series of launches this year to bring the latest technology to more Canadians.” The phased deployment of Wi-Fi 7 aims not only to offer enhanced speed but also to provide better coverage and adaptability for an ultra-reliable, low-lag experience. Later this year, Rogers plans to extend the Wi-Fi 7 rollout to additional Canadian locations, reinforcing its focus on expanding network reach and enabling high-performance connectivity.
