Turkcell, Türkiye’s major telecommunications player, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Huawei at the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona. This collaboration aims to propel developments in artificial intelligence, expedite the pace of 5G evolution, and pioneer cutting-edge network technologies.
In signing three Memorandums of Understanding, Turkcell and Huawei endeavor to push the boundaries of innovation. The agreements are set to enhance AI capacities, hasten the advancement of 5G networks, and investigate forward-thinking research into autonomous network technologies.
Under one agreement, emphasis is on evolving sustainable and technologically advanced networks. The focus revolves around pioneering 5G technologies—critical for testing, validating, and commercializing innovative solutions. Both companies will further develop 5G Standalone architectures to enhance service deployment across various segments, meeting the growing connectivity and traffic demands. Additionally, the partnership extends to developing unique 5G use cases, like 5G New Calling, and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) applications.
Additionally, advancements such as AI-powered fault detection for fiber infrastructure and collaborative AI training infrastructure services are part of the collaboration. These advances contribute to delivering secure, high-capacity connectivity to enterprise customers via Super WAN solutions.
Furthermore, the second agreement centers on technical research and innovation directed toward fully autonomous networks. This aspect of the partnership promotes AI-native autonomous network designs and strategies, allowing for joint studies and proof-of-concept initiatives. Contributions towards relevant standardization efforts add depth to this collaboration.
For the third part of the partnership, Turkcell and Huawei have committed to boosting AI infrastructure and developing state-of-the-art AI applications. This initiative will foster an AI ecosystem in Türkiye by co-designing solutions and industry-focused applications.
