Emirati-based telecommunications company e& has partnered with New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) to foster advancements in 6G technology. This strategic collaboration, outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry. It focuses on empowering students through initiatives designed to enrich their understanding of emerging technologies, such as 6G.

This partnership will integrate 6G concepts into NYUAD’s academic curriculum, providing students with practical insights and hands-on experience. Ali Al Mansoori, group chief people officer at e&, emphasized the importance of supporting future innovators: “At e&, investing in advanced technologies like 6G is important, but what truly matters is supporting the brilliant minds that will shape its future.”

He further explained that merging academia with industry helps students convert ambitious ideas into tangible solutions. This alliance is not just about preparing youth for the digital age; it invites them to participate in building it. Marwan Bin Shaker, acting chief technology and information officer at e& UAE, noted, “Driving 6G research and innovation is central to our efforts to shape the future of connectivity.” Partnering with NYUAD adds academic depth to these endeavors, fostering a vibrant exchange of knowledge that equips students to contribute significantly to technological advancements.

The collaboration with NYUAD follows a previous MoU signed with Ericsson to explore 6G technology’s future applications. This included identifying key technology concepts and engaging in technical discussions. The telco also set a new record speed of 62 Gbps by aggregating multiple carriers over a streamlined architecture, utilizing advanced technology like MU-MIMO.
