Cisco has released a sneak peek at its next-generation hybrid work collaboration tool. Webex Hologram is the industry’s first real-time meeting solution that combines feature-packed Webex meeting capabilities with immersive 3D holograms using augmented reality headgear.
Webex Hologram is a solution that will add augmented reality to the company’s collaboration platform. Webex Hologram claims to produce lifelike, real-time holograms of actual people when used with AR headsets like Magic Leap and Microsoft HoloLens.
This innovative technology provides a “1 to many” presenter experience, which allows for remote involvement from several users. In contrast to other services that restrict usage to fixed angle views, all users can now concurrently enjoy a multi-dimensional experience. The presenter may communicate using both physical and digital content using Webex Hologram, allowing participants to co-create and actually interact.
Jeetu Patel, executive vice president and general manager, Cisco Security and Collaboration, commented: “Webex Hologram represents a large step toward our mission of delivering a work experience so seamless that there is no gap between virtual and in-person collaboration.”
Webex Hologram is now accessible to a small number of clients in a restricted trial program. Through the program, Cisco is now focusing on discovering use cases and applications with clients, as well as benefiting from feedback. The company intends to expand the beta program after the conclusion of this limited trial .
Furthermore, Cisco has recently teamed with Lumen to expand Lumen’s flexible workplace portfolio and to introduce a new cloud-based unified communications offering. This move expands on Cisco and Lumen’s lengthy past cooperation. Lumen Solutions for Cisco Unified Communications Manager Cloud (UCMC) is a cloud-based platform that offers Cisco’s robust telephony and collaboration services through Lumen’s worldwide fiber network. Calling, messaging, Cisco Webex integration, instant messaging, mobile and remote access, collaboration phones and endpoints, network connectivity choices and emergency call handling are just a few of the features available.
