According to Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, Apple has some exciting developments in the pipeline, including the potential release of an independent display and new features for the future AirPods. Gurman suggests that the upcoming monitor could serve as a smart home display when not actively used.

It may feature a custom Apple silicon chip and function similarly to the StandBy feature unveiled at this year’s WWDC. The display is expected to offer connectivity to Macs, providing additional features like web browsing and access to applications. Additionally, it might operate independently as a smart display, akin to the Amazon Echo Show, when in low-power mode.

Gurman also reveals that Apple has plans to integrate USB-C charging into AirPods, along with interoperability with the Apple Vision Pro. Furthermore, Apple is exploring the inclusion of new health features in AirPods. For instance, AirPods could be used to conduct hearing tests, assessing an individual’s hearing abilities. Apple is also investigating the incorporation of sensors in AirPods to measure body temperature via the ear canal. However, it should be noted that these health features are still in the early stages of development and may take months or even years to materialize.

In the near future, consumers can anticipate an AirPods Pro charging case that supports USB-C charging. This aligns with Apple’s plans to transition the upcoming iPhone 15 from Lightning to USB-C charging. Additionally, Gurman mentions that AirPods will play a crucial role in Apple’s mixed-reality headset, the Apple Vision Pro. With the Vision Pro, AirPods will enable private listening and contribute to a more immersive audio experience.

Furthermore, Gurman highlights that when iOS 17 is released later this year, users can expect several software updates for AirPods. These updates include Adaptive Audio and Conversation Awareness, enhancing the functionality and user experience of Apple’s popular wireless earbuds.
