BT has introduced the GenAI Gateway, a new platform developed to enhance the integration of large language models (LLMs) into the company’s operations. The platform, created in collaboration with AWS, centralizes access to advanced AI models from providers such as Anthropic, Meta, and Amazon. This move aims to provide engineers with the flexibility to select the most appropriate LLM for different tasks.

The GenAI Gateway simplifies the management of AI tools, infrastructure, and security settings while reducing duplication. It has strong security features, including UK-based data storage and models isolated for various use cases to prevent misuse. With privacy as a core focus, the platform ensuresBT responsible AI deployment.

Currently, Openreach is testing the platform to summarize engineering notes for Ethernet and full-fiber projects, aiming to streamline processes and boost productivity. The legal and procurement teams at BT are also utilizing the platform for contract analysis.

Deepika Adusumilli, Managing Director of Data & AI at BT Group’s Digital Unit, stated, “AI is helping us reimagine the future of our company. We believe that where our data is a constant, we need flexibility with our LLMs.” She added, “GenAI Gateway allows us to tap into this powerful new set of technologies at scale, in a way that is safe, responsible, flexible and scalable, delivering the ambition we have for AI to unlock the human potential within BT Group, today and in the future.”
