NEC and Cisco have partnered to deliver an enterprise private 5G solution, combining their expertise in wireless and core networking. This innovative offering integrates Cisco’s 5G SA Core and Cloud Control Centre with NEC’s refined radio network and systems integration services, targeted at enhancing digital transformation for businesses.

This collaboration bridges both companies’ strengths. NEC brings its robust wireless network experience while Cisco provides their core network capabilities. The result is a private 5G network solution aimed initially at enterprise customers in Europe and the Middle East, with intentions to expand globally through direct sales and service provider partnerships.

To demonstrate the solution’s capabilities, NEC has established a demonstration facility and laboratory. Here, businesses can validate the implementation of various use cases, crucial for digital transformation across sectors such as logistics, warehousing, event venues, and airport operations. This hands-on environment helps firms assess how the bespoke solution can meet their specific needs.

“The needs for modernized architecture in 5G have steadily enhanced our partnership with Cisco, leading us to this next level,” said Hideyuki Ogata, a Senior Executive at NEC’s Global Network Division. “The industry-leading solutions from Cisco and our ecosystem partners, combined with our world-class network integration capabilities, enable us to deliver compelling solutions to multiple operators and verticals across the world.”

Enterprise private 5G networks represent a significant step in connectivity solutions. Organizations can gain improved performance and security by having dedicated 5G infrastructure that matches their specific requirements. This personalized approach supports massive IoT deployments and offers ultra-low latency for real-time communications, unlocking new possibilities for businesses.

Masum Mir, SVP and GM of Provider Mobility at Cisco, remarked, “Our collaboration with NEC leverages our combined strengths to bring cutting-edge private 5G solutions to enterprises worldwide. Together with NEC, we are creating a powerful force to drive digital transformation and innovation across multiple sectors, and support the critical changes needed in networking infrastructure to carry the internet into the next decade.”
