MSI Unveils AI Servers Boosting HPC Efficiency and Flexibility

MSI has launched a new line of servers designed to transform the landscape of AI and high-performance computing (HPC). Featuring the innovative MGX architecture and Intel Xeon 6 processors, these servers promise to improve compute density, energy efficiency, and modular flexibility, addressing the complex demands of modern data-intensive applications.

The introduction of Intel Xeon 6 processors in the DC-MHS servers aims to ensure scalable performance and resilience. As Danny Hsu, General Manager of MSI’s Enterprise Platform Solutions, said, “MSI’s latest innovations mark a significant leap in computational power and efficiency, enabling organisations to maximise performance, adapt seamlessly to evolving needs, and drive efficiency, building a robust foundation for future growth in high-performance computing.”

One standout is the CG480-S5063 AI server. This 4U server integrates eight full-height, full-length dual-width GPU slots supporting NVIDIA H200 NVL GPUs. This capacity caters extensively to AI, large language models, and data analytics environments. With 32 DDR5 DIMM slots and 20 PCIe 5.0 E1.S NVMe bays, it enables high throughput and scalable integration.

A key feature in MSI’s DC-MHS server lineup is the use of the OCP DC-MHS architecture. By emphasizing compute density and modular scalability, it offers an optimized front I/O design and advanced server management modules. The additions, powered by the Aspeed AST2600 BMC, provide data centers with enhanced flexibility and efficiency.

The CD270-S3061-X2 and the CX270-S5062 models are examples of MSI’s commitment to high compute environments. The CD270-S3061-X2, a 2U server, supports scalability demands with single Intel Xeon 6 processors, leveraging a design power of up to 350W. In contrast, the CX270-S5062, also 2U, uses dual processors and offers more DDR5 DIMM slots for rapid processing needs.

Notably, the CX271-S3066 server is crafted for data-centric applications requiring swift data access. Its single Intel Xeon 6 processor supports up to 350W of thermal design power, 16 DDR5 DIMM slots, and ample PCIe connectivity for efficient processing.

MSI’s innovation extends beyond servers. Their new server motherboards, like the M-FLW and M-DNO models, utilize Intel Xeon 6 processors for unmatched efficiency in demanding environments. Integrating DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0 connectivity, these boards provide the foundation for advanced AI and HPC scenarios.

The versatility of these servers and components promotes their adaptability across various industries. The adherence to OCP DC-SCM v2.0 standards ensures that deployment and maintenance costs are kept in check while maintaining cross-platform compatibility. This adaptability makes MSI a pivotal player in enabling modern data centers to thrive amid growing computational demands.
