Lightpath is undertaking a significant network expansion in Miami to connect with a new cable landing station at 460 NE 215th Street. In collaboration with a strategic anchor customer, the company aims to enhance connectivity through dark fiber and wavelength services, reaching up to 800 Gbps. This expansion will be finished by late 2025, extending Lightpath’s network in the Miami metro area to over 80-route miles.
This move is part of a broader effort to fortify Miami’s digital infrastructure. With the entire Miami network situated underground and connecting to 12 key data centers, Lightpath provides extensive connectivity services. This includes both dark fiber and high-capacity wavelength services. Highlighting the increasing demand for these services, Tim Haverkate from Lightpath emphasized the company’s dedication to enhancing Miami’s infrastructure, especially in underfunded areas.
Beyond Miami, Lightpath also connects to over 170 data centers and seven additional cable landing stations in the New York and New Jersey areas. The company’s focus remains on delivering tailored, high-capacity solutions with options up to 800 Gbps.
Chriss Morley, CEO of Lightpath, remarked on their evolving partnerships with significant bandwidth consumers. He noted the company’s commitment to building AI-grade networks tailored for today’s connectivity needs driven by AI and Cloud technologies. Such networks require immense capacity and are essential across various U.S. regions.
