Airtel‘s digital unit, Xtelify, has rolled out a novel cloud and AI-powered platform targeting telecoms and enterprises. The new offering includes a fully sovereign telco-grade cloud platform, Cloud, hosted entirely in India. It promises to cut cloud expenditures by 40% while handling up to 1.4 billion transactions per minute, thanks to advanced data centers and AI-based provisioning.

This move is politically and strategically significant, given India’s emphasis on data sovereignty and cost-efficient digital transformation. It ensures that data control remains within the nation’s borders. Furthermore, the platform’s design supports Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS), offering improved scalability and reliability with no vendor lock-ins.

Xtelify’s foray into AI sees the launch of a comprehensive software suite. This suite aims at optimizing telecom operations, enhancing customer interactions, managing complex workflows, and upping Average Revenue per User (ARPU). The suite incorporates an AI-driven data engine providing real-time insights and tools for streamlined field operations and customer engagement across multiple channels.

The company already formed strategic alliances with major telecom operators like Singtel, Globe Telecom, and Airtel Africa. Singtel seeks to optimize task automation and productivity through Xtelify Work, an AI-driven workforce tool, while Globe Telecom will adopt Xtelify Serve, aimed at boosting service quality via an omni-channel platform. For Airtel Africa, the focus will be on employing Data Engine, IQ, and Work solutions to improve regional operations, support field teams, and tackle spam and fraud.

Reflecting on these developments, Gopal Vittal, vice chairman and managing director at Bharti Airtel, remarked on the milestone moment, “It is a very pivotal moment in our history as we take our home-grown platforms of Airtel Cloud and software solutions to businesses in India and telcos all over the world.”
