Major Polish Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) wholesalers, including Fiberhost, Nexera, Polski Światłowód Otwarty, and Światłowód Inwestycje, have joined forces with Optare Solutions. They aim to develop a standardized API that could revolutionize Poland’s FTTH wholesale communications market. This initiative is set to reduce integration costs, enhance market competition, and streamline service provisioning processes.
The standardized API, while voluntary, will simplify the collaboration between wholesale and retail operators by providing an additional communication channel. Adopting this standard reduces entry barriers for new Internet Service Providers (ISPs), facilitating a more competitive landscape. It embodies the globally recognized TM Forum Open APIs, ensuring scalability and alignment with international standards. Consequently, Polish FTTH services are poised to become more innovative and consumer-friendly.
Subscribers can expect an improved range of services due to faster integration processes and increased competition among providers. The common API will enable quicker service provisioning, testing, and issue resolution, enhancing customer satisfaction.
Optare Solutions is steering this project, chosen for its expertise in telecommunications and previous successful engagements in FTTH projects. The consultancy will apply a structured method, engaging stakeholders, analyzing existing APIs, and formulating a unified API standard.
A representative from the participating companies stated, “This joint effort underscores our commitment to fostering a more efficient and competitive FTTH market in Poland. Partnering with Optare Solutions will enable us to standardize our current APIs, which benefits all participants and drives innovation across the industry. The standard will be available without cost for all market participants – all operators on the market.”
The comprehensive API is expected to cover crucial wholesale operations. These include service provisioning, service testing, and service ticketing. This strategic collaboration underlines the commitment of Polish FTTH companies to elevate industry standards, innovate, and accommodate future digital advancements.
