Globe Telecom has been chosen to manage the Philippines landing of the extensive MYUS cable system. This 19,000 km cable aims to link Malaysia with the United States, passing through the Philippines and Guam, with further branches to Indonesia. The project involves a significant investment of $720 million and promises to enhance connectivity between these regions.

The cable will feature 16 fiber pairs, each offering a minimum capacity of 15 Terabits per second (Tbps). Such capacity is set to significantly elevate internet and telecommunications reliability and speed across the connected regions. Globe Telecom was selected for this project due to its robust experience and advanced infrastructure in managing the Philippine Domestic Submarine Cable Network.

“The ability to offer diverse route connectivity to global and regional carriers makes our facilities a key asset,” stated KD Dizon, head of Globe Business. The strategic location of Davao as a landing station marks it as a critical hub for subsea cables, forming the backbone of the modern internet.

One advantage is the enhanced digital connectivity. The MYUS cable strengthens links between diverse geographic locations, facilitating better data flow and economic opportunities. However, managing such a large-scale project involves logistical challenges. Ensuring the reliability and security of the network becomes paramount given its vital role in global communications.

The submarine cable industry is experiencing rapid growth. These networks are crucial for the operation of various services we rely on. For telecom operators like Globe Telecom, initiatives like MYUS are opportunities to showcase their capabilities in handling complex infrastructure.
