Clearfield WAV Alliance Expands Fiber for Wireless Growth

Clearfield has signed a distribution alliance with WAV to widen its wireless infrastructure reach. The agreement gives customers across the US and Canada easier access to Clearfield’s fiber, power, and active network solutions.

The move comes as wireless networks demand more fiber deeper in the field. Operators keep densifying networks to support capacity growth. That means more sites need reliable fiber links, power options, and deployment-ready infrastructure.

Clearfield sees a large opportunity in this shift. The company points to metro core, wireless backhaul, indoor and outdoor DAS, and small cell markets. Together, these segments may reach about $78 billion by 2030.

For network builders, the agreement could simplify sourcing. WAV already serves wireless service providers, WISPs, and connectivity-focused customers. Its distribution network covers both the US and Canada.

Through WAV, customers can access Clearfield’s broader product portfolio. The focus will include wireless deployment solutions. These include the FieldSmart FiberFlex 1700 active cabinet and TetherSmart Multi-Fiber Terminal. Fault Managed Power solutions will also form part of the offering.

This matters because wireless rollouts now involve more moving parts. A site may need fiber termination, power support, and active equipment. Buying these elements separately can slow projects. It can also create design and compatibility issues.

At the same time, distribution alliances do not remove every deployment challenge. Operators still face permitting, labor, and site access issues. They also need careful planning for network growth. However, stronger channel support can reduce friction during procurement and design.

“Wireless networks depend on fiber at more points than ever before, and that creates an opportunity for Clearfield to bring the same focus on simplifying deployment that we’ve long brought to broadband,” said Marc Temple, Vice President of Channels & Strategic Alliances at Clearfield. “WAV understands wireless customers, the environments they operate in, and the technical challenges they face. That makes WAV an ideal alliance as we expand the reach of our fiber, power, and infrastructure solutions to help customers simplify increasingly complex deployments.”

Beyond inventory, WAV will help guide solution selection. This role could prove important for smaller providers. Many WISPs need practical support when expanding networks. They often work with lean teams and tight build schedules.

The partnership also reflects a wider market trend. Fiber is no longer only a fixed broadband asset. It now supports small cells, wireless backhaul, and enterprise coverage systems. As mobile demand grows, fiber becomes central to wireless performance.

For Clearfield, WAV offers an established path into wireless accounts. For WAV, the deal expands its infrastructure catalog. For customers, the value will depend on execution, availability, and support quality.

Overall, the alliance highlights a key industry reality. Wireless expansion increasingly depends on strong fiber foundations. Companies that can simplify deployment may gain attention from operators racing to upgrade networks.
