Deutsche Telekom has reported its 2024 financial results, showing impressive growth that exceeded expectations. Total revenue increased by 3.4% to €115.8 billion, and service revenues rose 3.9% to €96.5 billion. Adjusted EBITDA grew 6.2% to €43 billion. The company’s free cash flow surged 18.7% to €19.2 billion, demonstrating robust operational performance.
CEO Tim Höttges described it as “another record year” for the company. He expressed confidence in the strategy’s momentum, anticipating continued success in 2025.
The company projects adjusted EBITDA of around €44.9 billion in 2025, with free cash flow expected to grow to €19.9 billion. Shareholders stand to benefit, with a proposed record dividend of €0.90 per share, pending approval.
Several factors fueled Deutsche Telekom’s success. The German market witnessed a significant adoption of its fiber network, with 472,000 new customers last year, bringing the total to 1.5 million. Additionally, mobile revenue increased by 2.1% year-on-year in Q4.
In the United States, T-Mobile US played a crucial role, adding 6.1 million postpaid customers and boosting service revenues by 4.5% to $66.1 billion.
Meanwhile, a strategic collaboration with Google Cloud was unveiled. The companies will develop an AI-powered network agent to enhance Radio Access Network operations. The AI agent, built using Gemini 2.0 in Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, will identify and address network issues, improving reliability and cost efficiency.
Abdu Mudesir, Group CTO of Deutsche Telekom, emphasized, “Traditional approaches to network management are no longer sufficient to meet the demands of 5G and beyond.”
The RAN Guardian, tested by Deutsche Telekom, provides real-time problem-solving capabilities. It applies AI to detect issues and implement self-healing solutions for optimum performance.
