AST SpaceMobile has successfully secured a significant $43 million contract with the US government, further reinforcing its position within the satellite communications sector. This collaboration follows the successful testing of their BlueWalker-3 satellite last year. Under this new agreement, the company will deploy its advanced Block 2 BlueBird satellites, which feature expansive phased-array antennas measuring 2,400 square feet, to enhance connectivity for government operations.
The US Space Development Agency (SDA), a division of the US Space Force, aims to strengthen space-based support for military functions. Chris Ivory, Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Government Business at AST SpaceMobile, shared that this agreement reflects the agency’s confidence in the company’s groundbreaking technology. He stated, “We are deploying groundbreaking technology to create robust and resilient communications solutions and to enable new use cases for the U.S. government.”
