Nokia is set to reinforce its partnership with Philippines-based Converge ICT Solutions by integrating its Data Centre Fabric solution. This solution includes a combination of hardware and software, aiming to ready Converge’s data centers for the demands and benefits of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation technologies. The upgrade promises enhanced network performance, scalability, and service agility while meeting regulatory essentials for a sovereign cloud.

The initiative will introduce Nokia’s 7220 Interconnect Router (IXR) data center switches, running on the SR-Linux network operating system (NOS) and leveraging the Event-Driven Automation (EDA) platform. The implementation is designed to deliver high-quality performance and address the increasing demands driven by AI workloads. According to Nokia, the EDA platform provides consistent performance with reduced computing resource consumption. Meanwhile, the 7220 IXR caters to massive connectivity needs and ensures operational simplicity for data center networks.

One core advantage is the potential for more sustainable operations. Automation can significantly reduce energy consumption, offering a greener solution. Dennis Anthony Uy, Converge CEO and Co-Founder, highlighted the necessity of AI application hosting, noting the demand for seamless traditional application integration. He emphasized the essential role of AI and high-performance computing (HPC) in their operations, leading to the preparation of data center networks for extreme scalability and reliability.

Nokia’s collaboration with Converge isn’t unprecedented. Earlier, a similar Data Centre Fabric project commenced with Malaysian telco Maxis, aimed to enhance connectivity, streamline network operations, and automate workloads, supporting growth in the region.

Looking ahead, Nokia aims to play a pivotal role in scaling the Philippines’ data center industry, as affirmed by Kent Wong, Vice President and Head of IP Networks, Asia Pacific at Nokia. Their solutions are crafted to harness AI-driven automation, ensuring that data center operators like Converge can achieve unmatched reliability and scalability in their digital infrastructure.
