AWS has unveiled AgentCore, a new toolkit for advanced AI agents. This launch aims to help enterprises deploy and manage AI agents effectively and securely while leveraging existing Amazon Web Services infrastructure.
During the AWS Summit in New York, Swami Sivasubramanian, vice president for agentic AI at AWS, stated, “It’s a tectonic change in a few dimensions. It upends the way software is built. It also introduces a host of new challenges to deploying and operating it, and potentially most impactfully, it changes how software interacts with the world — and how we interact with software.”
The Amazon Bedrock AgentCore service is the heart of this initiative. It provides tools for deploying and scaling AI agents across different frameworks and models. This comprehensive suite supports memory, authentication, observability, and runtime, ensuring robust, scalable systems.
While AgentCore eases the AI agent deployment process, organizations also face challenges. These include ensuring autonomy and maintaining security standards. Nevertheless, AWS promises that AgentCore can transition AI projects from concept to production quickly, meeting enterprise-level demands.
Big names like Itaú Unibanco, Innovaccer, and Epsilon have adopted these technologies early. Key features of the Amazon Bedrock AgentCore suite include:
- AgentCore Runtime: Ensures fast interactions with low latency and allows up to eight-hour asynchronous workloads.
- AgentCore Memory: Makes AI agents more contextually aware by enabling both short and long-term memory storage.
- AgentCore Identity: Offers strong authentication features compatible with major identity providers like Amazon Cognito and Okta.
- AgentCore Gateway: Converts APIs and services into agent-friendly tools.
- AgentCore Code Interpreter: Allows secure code execution in sandbox environments.
- AgentCore Observability: Integrates with Amazon CloudWatch for monitoring AI agent actions.
Additionally, AWS has launched a marketplace for AI agents and tools, allowing organizations to find and deploy third-party solutions easily. This marketplace aims to accelerate AI agent deployment by providing curated solutions and specialized professional services.
Lastly, in alignment with its global advancement plans, AWS has also introduced its European Sovereign Cloud initiative. This initiative aims to deliver high compliance and operational standards within the European Union, demonstrating AWS’s commitment to stringent data control and regulatory adherence.
