Globe Telecom is deepening its technology partnership with Amdocs. The companies signed a new multi-year agreement to modernize Globe’s core business platforms. The deal also supports a wider move toward AI-driven telecom services.

The Philippine operator will deploy aOS, Amdocs’ agentic operating system for telecom workflows. In simple terms, agentic systems can act on goals with less human involvement. They can help manage tasks, recommend actions and automate routine decisions.

This matters because telecom IT environments remain complex. Operators must improve customer experience while keeping networks stable. Globe wants to modernize without disrupting daily operations. Amdocs says the work will follow a phased strategy. That approach should help keep digital systems running during upgrades.

“Our priority is to deliver reliable services today while building the capabilities we need for the future,” said Raul Macatangay, chief information officer at Globe. “Our expanded collaboration with Amdocs supports a disciplined approach to modernization, aligned with our business priorities and our customers’ needs.”

The deal goes beyond software delivery. Amdocs will work with Globe’s internal teams. It will provide technical support and knowledge sharing. This could help Globe reduce long-term dependence on outside specialists. It may also help internal teams manage future changes faster.

However, such modernization still carries execution risks. Legacy systems rarely change smoothly. Data quality, staff readiness and integration issues can slow progress. Operators also need clear governance when automation handles sensitive business processes.

Meanwhile, Amdocs has completed a major data modernization program for Globe. The project created a cloud-native foundation on Google Cloud. It aims to break data silos across the company. It also supports near real-time processing of customer and operational information.

This data layer forms a key part of Globe’s wider AI strategy. Reliable data allows business teams to react faster. They can tailor offers, improve digital services and spot operational trends sooner. For engineers, it can also support smarter automation across IT workflows.

“AI is only as intelligent as the data behind it,” said Anthony Goonetilleke, group president, Growth Horizons at Amdocs. “For telecom operators, the ability to access trusted business information in near real time is becoming increasingly important as they look to make operations more intelligent and responsive. Globe has taken a significant step by modernizing the data environment that will support its next generation of AI-driven services.”

The combined programs show a clear direction. Globe wants intelligence built into operations, not added later. That shift could make customer systems more responsive. It could also reduce manual workloads for support and operations teams.

Still, autonomous operations demand trust. Automated agents need accurate data, strong oversight and secure access controls. Without those elements, automation can create new operational blind spots.

Globe has already reported strong AI results. The company says it achieved 1.2 billion Philippine pesos in business value. That equals about US$19.05 million. It also reported a 2.8x return on AI investments.

To strengthen governance, Globe formed an Intelligence and Trust Office. The unit combines AI, data governance, cybersecurity and digital policy teams. This structure may help Globe scale automation while controlling risk. For telecom operators watching from abroad, the project offers a useful case study in practical AI execution.
