Telefonica has announced their  significant commitment to the metaverse, indicating that the company will use MWC22 Barcelona to demonstrate its digital transformation and technological leadership initiatives through an innovative virtual environment.

Telefonica said it will utilize the metaverse to demonstrate all of its in-person demos, allowing conference attendees to digitally visit the four physical sites on the exhibition floors. The organization will provide a unique experience based on the quality of the information exhibited and the ongoing and diverse activities by combining real-time and virtual participation.

Telefónica will demonstrate its expertise, capabilities and dedication to assisting businesses, governmental agencies and society as a whole in taking advantage of the tremendous opportunities that digitization and connectivity provide. The company will also show what it can do for the community, and the advantages its solutions will deliver in terms of making participants more efficient, sustainable and safe. Telefónica will exhibit the vast potential inherent in technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Edge Computing, Cloud, Big Data, and Blockchain, with 5G at its core.

The metaverse depiction of the exhibitor’s stand will not only allow visitors to see the four demonstrations on display and follow all of the real event’s sessions, but it will also add two more demos to the company’s offerings. These presentations will be devoted to “Predictive maintenance with 5G drones”, which will focus on the use of drones, 5G, and Artificial Intelligence to enable new business uses through the exploitation of data collection, and “Cybersecure in Smart Cities”, which will show all the essential steps in progressing towards a ‘smart city,’ which is not only intelligent but also safe, efficient and sustainable.

In their event summary, Telefonica stated that its MWC22 Barcelona presence would emphasize how its solutions will help organizations become more effective, sustainable and safe through digital transformation. The exhibit will cover a total floor space of 952 square meters, with four demo sections dedicated to smart industry, 5G holographic telepresence, industrial robots and drone protection. Telefonica will host a total of 26 events, including 24 sessions and presentations as well as 31 company speakers.
