Tonaquint, a leading provider of data center solutions targeting emerging markets, has inaugurated its newly revamped data center in Oklahoma City. The company marked the occasion with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting, guided tours of the facility, and a festive gathering featuring local cuisine and ample networking opportunities.
Key figures from Tonaquint and the local business community took center stage during the event. Kanan Joshi, Partner and Co-Head of North America at DIF Capital Partners, along with Mike DeVito, Tonaquint’s Chief Commercial Officer, delivered brief addresses. Gary Schones from the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce also shared a few words.
Mike DeVito expressed Tonaquint’s commitment to delivering top-tier data center solutions tailored for emerging markets like Oklahoma City. He emphasized the significance of the facility in fostering digital infrastructure crucial for the region’s economic growth.
The newly unveiled data center is strategically designed to cater to the demands of AI workloads, thereby bolstering Oklahoma’s ambitions to establish itself as a hub for AI and emerging technologies.
Terry Morrison, Tonaquint’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer, highlighted the facility’s forward-looking design and its pivotal role in advancing technological capabilities within the Oklahoma City community.
Tonaquint’s acquisition of the data center, located near Will Rogers World Airport, in late 2023 marked a pivotal moment in its expansion strategy. Originally owned by Devon Energy, the facility underwent extensive renovations to transform it into a multi-client environment capable of accommodating up to 12 MW of critical IT load.
Positioned within a secure, four-acre campus, the 65,000-square-foot data center boasts resilience against extreme weather conditions, including tornado-force winds reaching up to 310 mph.
The opening of this state-of-the-art facility underscores Tonaquint’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for reliable data center services in Oklahoma and beyond. With active client enrollment underway, Tonaquint aims to solidify its presence in Oklahoma City alongside its existing data centers in Idaho and Utah.
