Nokia has been selected to provide Norlys with its full mobile core network and managed services, continuing its partnership with Denmark’s largest integrated energy and telecommunications operator. This deal, combined with a 2021 RAN contract, will significantly enhance Norlys’ mobile network performance and reliability. The deployment will cover 4G and 5G packet core, IMS, and SDM solutions for voice and data services.

Leveraging the industry-leading hybrid cloud platform, Red Hat OpenShift, the core network applications will run on the Nokia Cloud Platform. This setup promises a scalable and cloud-native infrastructure. Furthermore, Nokia will enhance security using its NetGuard portfolio, integrating Endpoint Detection and Response, Privileged Access Management, and Certificate Management solutions. These measures aim to protect the core network endpoints, user access, and digital identities.

Highlighting the partnership’s benefits, Daniel Askeroth, Chief Technology Officer at Telia Denmark, said, “We have a clear ambition to deliver the best network to the Danes and are working continuously to improve the network performance and customer experience. Partnering with Nokia for our core network and managed services will provide us with a high-quality and future-proof core solution enabling us to offer the best services to our customers and embracing the opportunities of 5G and beyond.”

In addition to security measures, Nokia will provide managed security, performance, and assurance services. This includes the deployment of the 7220 IXR platforms running SR Linux NOS for data center connectivity. The Nokia MantaRay NM will oversee seamless network management and automated operations, focusing on network optimization and support.

Raghav Sahgal, President of Cloud Network Services at Nokia, expressed his optimism. “We are delighted to be Norlys’ sole supplier of core network and managed services. This is a testament to Nokia’s strong collaboration and the quality of our solutions and services. We look forward to supporting Norlys in achieving its goals of providing superior customer experience, network efficiency, and differentiation in the market.”

This move emphasizes Nokia’s commitment to driving innovation and supporting the digital transformation of its partners. By enabling a full-service network solution, Nokia opens new growth opportunities for Norlys in Denmark, aiming to deliver enhanced services and capitalize on the potential of emerging technologies. As a pioneer in the telecommunications sector, Nokia continues to set the bar for secure, reliable, and sustainable network solutions globally.
