Cirata recently unveiled Data Migrator 3.0, a tool designed to streamline data management across various platforms. This latest version adds improved support for Apache Iceberg and Databricks Delta Lake, enhancing interoperability, automation, scalability, and security.

This release caters to organizations’ growing demand for flexible, interoperable data management solutions. Paul Scott-Murphy, Chief Technology Officer at Cirata, emphasized, “Organisations understand the need to avoid the lock-in, technology constraints and costs that come with isolated data storage and formats. They need solutions that make it possible to use their largest data assets wherever they are created, in a variety of formats, and with whatever future technologies emerge. They want data interoperability.”

One of the notable improvements in Data Migrator 3.0 is its automatic integration of open table formats like Apache Iceberg, promoting ease of use regardless of data format or location. The tool offers production-ready, direct support for these formats, reducing the complexity typical of closed data architectures.

With enhanced support for Databricks Delta Lake, the tool optimizes integration, which facilitates seamless data transformation and scalability across cloud platforms. This development is essential for businesses looking to future-proof data management and analytics strategies.

A new internal scheduler replaces manual configurations in recurring data migrations, allowing user-defined custom schedules. This advancement effectively streamlines enterprise data workflows. The release also focuses on data consistency. An advanced verification process ensures accurate data matching during migrations, thereby maintaining data integrity without compromising performance.

Security remains a priority in Data Migrator 3.0. The expansion of Hashicorp Vault support enhances role-based access control, improving security and access management for users. This robust security feature addresses the need for protecting sensitive data in enterprise environments.

Additionally, the new version simplifies data transfers across multiple environments seamlessly. Users can transfer and integrate Hadoop data without altering current business operations, minimizing migration risks and downtime. Supported targets for migrations now include Hadoop Distributed File System, Alibaba Cloud Object Storage Service, S3, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen 2, Google Cloud Storage, IBM Cloud Object Storage, and Oracle Object Storage.
