In a significant move by Fujitsu, the company has introduced 1Finity as a standalone global networking business. This announcement underscores their desire to enhance autonomy and strengthen global competitiveness in the optical and wireless network solutions sector.
1Finity merges Fujitsu’s global network organizations, providing them with a cohesive brand that enables more responsive handling of AI, data, and cost challenges faced by telecom operators and data centers. The subsidiary promises a comprehensive range of offerings, incorporating intelligent AI analytics and software features to position itself as a dynamic global partner.
With “1Finity” as its new identity, the Japanese company aims at fostering flexibility and autonomy in their network entities. This consolidation aligns with Fujitsu’s strategic plan to accelerate agile and innovative network solutions on a global scale. The aim is clear: deliver a complete array of hardware, software, and services tailored to the evolving network landscape.
Masaaki Moribayashi, CEO of 1Finity, highlighted the escalating pressures from data demand, AI adoption, and rising costs on network operators. The solution offered by 1Finity is designed to aid customers in rapidly adjusting to market shifts through the timely provision of cutting-edge products leveraging advanced technology and AI analytics.
Fujitsu has embarked upon this venture as part of its mid-term management blueprint, aspiring for a transformation into “a technology company that realizes net positive through digital services” by 2030. Through 1Finity, the intent is to clarify management responsibilities and expedite decision-making for global operations.
The new entity consolidates various functions, including the development and operation of network hardware, optical transmission equipment, and O-RAN compliant base stations. Furthermore, it incorporates research for emerging technologies like 6G.
The integration also sees the inclusion of four group companies under the 1Finity umbrella: Fujitsu Telecom Networks Limited, Fujitsu Network Service Engineering Limited, Mobile Techno Corporation, and Fujitsu Network Communications. This strategic move aims to strengthen Fujitsu’s market presence in Japan and North America, with ambitions to expand into European and Asian markets.
1Finity’s focus entails advancing optical data transmission technology and developing vRAN software utilizing GPUs. The venture will augment its capabilities by embracing new technologies like AI and next-generation systems like 6G, thereby aiming for expansion in innovative arenas.
