Trimble and KT Corporation have entered into a collaborative effort to enhance telecom and precise positioning services in South Korea through the Trimble RTX Fast network. This project targets automotive original equipment manufacturers and IoT companies, enabling precise positioning services across the nation.
Trimble’s offering utilizes real-time GNSS correction services with global coverage via IP/cellular and satellite. Trimble RTX Fast ensures centimeter-level accuracy, boosting safety and performance while enabling automation and productivity.
Olivier Casabianca, vice president of advanced positioning at Trimble, emphasized the company’s dedication to advancing technology coverage for a more connected future. “With an existing footprint in North America and Europe, we are building on our strategy to extend RTX Fast to other regions around the world,” he stated.
This collaboration covers extensive square mileage worldwide, providing a consistent technology platform for automotive and IoT applications. Automotive firms can seamlessly evolve their advanced driving applications with ASIL-certified solutions from prototype to production. The collaboration focuses on delivering positioning and correction services for vehicles with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) or vehicle-to-everything (V2X) capabilities. Such advancements drive connectivity across varied applications including smart cities, field robotics, and software-defined vehicles.
KT Corporation boasts a widespread wired and wireless network in South Korea, covering urban, rural, and mountainous regions. “With KT’s broad coverage and immediate access to the Trimble RTX Fast network, companies can easily use, test, and validate their automotive and IoT systems,” Wontae Kim of KT Corporation mentioned. This accelerates the development cycle, assuring accuracy and reliable access to positioning data.
