Tata Communications and AWS are collaborating to create an advanced AI-ready network infrastructure in India. This effort connects AWS’s key sites in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai through a national long-haul network. This network serves as the backbone for AI and machine learning operations across the country.

The roll-out is among Tata Communications’ largest projects in scale and bandwidth. It aims to deliver performance and scalability necessary for modern AI workloads. With low-latency and high-bandwidth features, the infrastructure supports advanced technologies like generative AI, 5G, and high-performance computing (HPC).

Key sectors such as healthcare, finance, and education will benefit by building, training, and deploying AI applications on a large scale. Furthermore, the network integrates robust security features compliant with regulatory data-protection standards to ensure data integrity. This feature-rich deployment showcases the capacity to meet complex project requirements and scales of network solutions.

Genius Wong, Executive VP at Tata Communications, remarked, “This association marks our largest ever National Long-Distance program. It showcases Tata Communications’ unparalleled capability to support large‑capacity, complex projects requiring scaled network solutions. Together, we’re enabling a network that not only meets current demands but anticipates the needs of tomorrow.”

The collaboration enables AWS to enhance its services for seamless integration of generative AI applications and faster model training. Jesse Dougherty, VP for Network Edge Services at AWS, added, “The infrastructure is designed to support the most data‑intensive workloads, like 5G, generative AI, and high‑performance computing. This collaboration with Tata Communications will further enable our customers in India to innovate at scale with cloud and generative AI, and drive growth in India’s rapidly expanding digital economy.”
