True Corporation Launches DSS to Boost 5G, 4G in Bangkok

True Corporation has taken a significant step forward with the launch of Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) in Bangkok’s Thonglor district. This advanced initiative aims to enhance the performance of both 5G and 4G services by optimizing the usage of the 2.6 GHz spectrum band based on real-time user demand.

DSS technology revolutionizes spectrum allocation. Unlike conventional methods which lock portions of the spectrum permanently for specific technologies, DSS allows dynamic reallocation. This means if demand for 5G increases, more spectrum can be dedicated to it, and vice versa for 4G. This real-time flexibility ensures efficient usage of spectrum resources and bolsters network performance.

True Corporation’s move is poised to extend high-performance 5G and 4G services across the nation. With over 14.2 million 5G users already under its umbrella, the company is integrating DSS into its Network Modernization Plan. The upgrade aims not only to boost speed and coverage but also enhance the stability of service for existing TrueMove H and dtac customers.

Furthermore, True’s strategic acquisition of 70 megahertz in the 2.3 GHz band bolsters this development. This new addition supports 4G services, freeing up more of the 2.6 GHz spectrum for 5G utilization, ensuring an optimal user experience.

Thonglor, known for its bustling urban setting, was chosen as the starting point due to its vibrant mix of business, lifestyle, and residential activities. This area, frequented by professionals and expatriates, serves as a perfect testbed for enhanced 5G services.
