Wireless Logic, a UK-based company, has expanded its influence in the Internet of Things (IoT) sector by acquiring US virtual network operator Zipit Wireless along with its Canadian counterpart, Mtrex Networks. This strategic acquisition marks its first major move into the US, complementing prior deals in Brazil, Israel, and Singapore.

The recent transaction not only highlights Wireless Logic’s global expansion strategy but also introduces enhanced billing capabilities and strengthens its collaboration with telecommunications giants such as AT&T, Verizon, and Rogers. By gaining access to Zipit’s proprietary billing tools, known for generating over $45 million in subscription revenue for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) clients, Wireless Logic aims to simplify the commercial complexities of IoT services through automated billing and versatile subscription models.

Zipit Wireless offers specialized airtime services tailored for markets such as agriculture, digital signage, and security. Its extensive experience as a platform-as-a-service provider combined with Mtrex Networks’ expertise in point-of-sale solutions cements Wireless Logic’s competitive edge in delivering comprehensive IoT solutions across North America.

From a broader perspective, this acquisition emphasizes Wireless Logic’s objective to broaden its footprint while deepening market-specific expertise. This is evident through its continued acquisition spree, including recent purchases of Arqia in Brazil, Webbing in Israel, and Blue Wireless in Singapore.

Notably, Frank Greer, CEO of Zipit Wireless, commented on the acquisition: “Access to Wireless Logic’s global footprint and broader service portfolio means we can offer more choice, coverage, and capability – while staying true to the hands-on support our customers rely on. It’s a strong cultural fit and we’re excited about what’s ahead.”

Oliver Tucker, co-founder and CEO of Wireless Logic, echoed these sentiments: “Zipit’s deep understanding of the North American market and its expertise in complex commercial models make it a welcome addition to the group. We’re delighted to have the team onboard and look forward to the opportunities this creates for our customers and partners.”
