Vodafone has recently enhanced its Secure Net Mobile security package with an innovative AI-driven feature to combat scam calls. This new Scam Call Protection is seamlessly integrated into their network, which enables real-time scanning of incoming calls. When a suspicious number is detected, customers receive an immediate alert, allowing them to act accordingly. This upgrade aims to tackle the growing issue of fraudulent and nuisance calls without requiring additional installations for users.

Rob Winterschladen, the Consumer Director at Vodafone, emphasizes the significance of this advancement. He states, “Scam calls are becoming increasingly harder to spot, and it’s easy to feel caught off guard. Scam Call Protection on Vodafone Secure Net Mobile gives customers an extra layer of reassurance – constantly working in the background to monitor calls, and flagging known and suspected scam calls. The introduction of Scam Call Protection strengthens our commitment to provide comprehensive built‑in digital security, helping people feel safer, more informed and more in control of their digital world.”

A noteworthy aspect of Vodafone’s effort is the system’s ability to identify and flag numbers previously associated with scam activities. This proactive approach grants users greater control over incoming calls and enhances their digital security experience.

This initiative is part of a broader move among UK telecom operators to improve scam protection measures. In 2025, major providers, including BT (EE), Virgin Media (O2), and others, committed to amplifying their anti-scam technologies under the Telecommunications Charter. The integration of AI has been integral in these upgrades across the industry. For instance, O2’s AI-powered software successfully blocked over 1 billion unwanted calls for its customers, exemplifying the scale and impact of AI in call protection.

By implementing these advanced measures, operators underscore their commitment to consumer safety. Enhancements like Vodafone’s Scam Call Protection leverage cutting-edge technology to offer users a more secure digital environment. This relentless pursuit of improving telecom security is crucial as scammers continuously evolve their techniques.
