Accenture has announced its agreement to acquire Fibermind, an Italy-based network services company specializing in fibre, 5G network deployment, and infrastructure engineering. This acquisition aims to bolster Accenture’s capabilities and extend its network services to clients in telecoms, utilities, and transportation sectors.

Headquartered in Rovigo, Italy, Fibermind has a strong presence nationwide, maintaining robust relationships with major Italian mobile and fibre network operators. The acquisition will see 400 Fibermind employees join Accenture Operations, bringing expertise in network design, permits management, project management, network testing, and documentation.

The combined resources of the two companies will enhance network engineering capabilities through advanced technology assets powered by automation, robotics, data, and artificial intelligence. Roberto Pagella, head of Accenture Operations in Italy, emphasized that the acquisition will significantly strengthen their telecommunications network engineering services and foster growth in a vital sector. He noted that the synergies with Fibermind would create a center of excellence in engineering services where technology and data enhance human skills and knowledge.

Andrea Targa, general manager of Fibermind, expressed enthusiasm about joining Accenture and leveraging the global network to grow both within and outside Italy. He highlighted the shared commitment to innovation and digital transformation, which will enhance the speed and quality of delivering engineering services.

The acquisition, which is subject to customary closing conditions, follows a series of European acquisitions by Accenture, including Arca, AFD.TECH, and Umlaut. These moves are part of a broader strategy to expand the company’s infrastructure engineering capabilities for 5G and fibre networks across the region.
