LiquidStack has recently unveiled its latest innovation, the CDU-1MW, a Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) with universal compatibility for direct-to-chip (DTC) liquid cooling solutions in data centers. This unit, designed with a robust 1,350kW cooling capacity, meets the growing demand for DTC-optimized technologies amidst the widespread adoption of liquid cooling in modern data centers. It is now available for global shipment.

The CDU-1MW specifically targets high-performance computing (HPC) environments, generative AI, and large language models. Joe Capes, CEO of LiquidStack, emphasized the company’s specialization in liquid cooling, stating, “With a singular focus on liquid cooling, we deliver unparalleled expertise and innovation, providing the most advanced solutions, such as the CDU-1MW, for data centers and high-performance computing environments.”

Exceeding industry standards, the CDU-1MW holds certifications from ETL and CE and has been rigorously tested by third-party validators. This unit caters to hyperscalers, colocation service providers, and large-scale enterprises transitioning to hybrid cooling systems.

Energy efficiency and operational cost reduction are key features of the CDU-1MW. It employs advanced coolant distribution techniques to achieve optimal temperature management. Its design supports the latest AI chips and servers, offering reliability and durability for demanding applications. Furthermore, its universal compatibility allows seamless integration with various CDU vendors and DTC cooling systems, eliminating proprietary constraints.

The focus on energy optimization is evident in the CDU-1MW’s design, which minimizes energy consumption while maintaining peak cooling performance. The user interface, equipped with a programmable logic controller (PLC), offers intuitive controls and monitoring tools, facilitating straightforward management. Additionally, the unit includes N+1 redundancy with hot-swappable dual VSD pump operations and the option for redundancy in critical components such as temperature, pressure, and flow meters. This ensures continuous and reliable operation.

Nick Schweissguth, Global Director of Product Management at LiquidStack, asserted, “Our exclusive commitment to liquid cooling ensures that LiquidStack products incorporate the latest advancements and best practices in cooling technology.” Schweissguth also highlighted that the CDU-1MW is built to meet the rigorous demands of high-performance environments and allows large-scale data center operators to mitigate risks associated with AI deployments by integrating rapidly with existing DTC systems.
